A crushed spirit

We all had our hearts broken in some way -maybe by disappointment, fear, shame, rejection, or ridicule. A broken-hearted person can feel the pain of brokenness. Our loss, grief, and hurtful situations can cause emotional pain which can be felt in the body, the mind, and the heart. Emotional pain affects us physically, so we have to be honest with our emotions and pursue healing.

Broken heartedness may be intense because we do not have what we once did, or what we thought we should have. We have lost something or someone. We may also feel all alone. Our body reacts to grief, anger, sadness, and fear. In all this always remember that God loves you and He is always ready to help us.

In fact, it is in your pain that God is closest to you, whether you realize it or not. God rescues or saves us when our spirits are crushed. The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. God is not only close to us, but He also knows the pain we feel, the loss we can’t fill, and all the needs we have and can’t yet express. He sees and knows the impact of a soul that’s weary and worn.

God loves to help us know Him and know His presence with us, especially when life is hard. We can experience God’s presence in our life when we repent for our wrongdoings. We should never repeat them again. We have to break a few things in our lives to remain nearer to God.

  1. We have to break our bodies to control ourselves so that we do not fall into temptations and lose our spiritual life.
  2. We have to break the pride that makes us overestimate ourselves and underestimate others in terms of spirituality, knowledge, and intellect. Such people are arrogant, unteachable, rebellious, and judgmental.
  3. We have to break our selfishness and love others unconditionally, without expecting anything from them.
  4. We have to break our sinful thoughts. The Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth and that the thoughts of his heart were only evil all the time.
  5. We have to break our own selves and realize our mistakes. Just like the prodigal son decides to return to his father, we have to repent for our sins and come back to our heavenly Father.
  6. We have to break our incomplete knowledge. The Lord says, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot, but because you are lukewarm I am about to spit you out of my mouth.’’ Those who are lukewarm have just enough knowledge of Christ that they’re not resistant but lack enough faith to become true believers.
  7. We have to break our worldly desires. We all are tempted by our own evil desires. Then that desire conceives and gives birth to sin and sin when it is full-grown gives birth to death.

If we break all these things in our lives then we can experience God’s presence and we will never be ashamed and the Lord will fulfil all our desires.
