The crucifixion of Jesus Christ

Good Friday is observed on a Friday preceding Easter Sunday. It marks the day on which Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross at Calvary, a place just outside Jerusalem. Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came into this world to die for the sins of the entire mankind. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. He came into the world not to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

Good Friday should be a day of mourning because Jesus Christ died on this day, but we call it “good” Friday because His sacrifice and death on the cross is to save the entire world from sin. This day is good because the message of Easter is of Christ’s victory over sin, death, and, satan. Jesus Christ died on the cross and was buried and rose from the dead on the third day. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your personal Saviour, declaring “Jesus is Lord,” you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven.

Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection are God’s provision for the perfect and final sacrifice for man’s sins. This is the “Good News” for the entire world and that is the reason we call it “Good Friday.”
